As winter comes around each year, the most popular reason people call on us is because they’ve got a problem with their boiler. What typically happens is during the summer months they’ve totally forgotten that come October, when the temperature drops, they’re going to want their heating back on and their boiler, which has sat around not doing very much for the last few months, is suddenly expected to jump into life and provide efficient heating for their home or office building.
Sadly, for many this approach leads to a big disappointment when nothing happens – no heating, no hot water, no nothing. That doesn’t sound like fun does it?
Clarity Heating can help service your boiler
But, if you have your boiler serviced every year this all to common problem can be avoided, meaning when you need your boiler it will be raring to go – making sure you and your family are toasty warm, worry free and ready for winter.
There’s also two other excellent reasons to make sure you have your boiler service done regularly. An annual inspection will ensure your boiler is working to the highest level of efficiency that it can and that it is safe. To put it simply an annual boiler service helps to save pennies and save lives too.
What does a boiler service involve?
Our heating engineer will carry out a visual inspection of all areas of the boiler, check the gas pressures are correct, that the flue gases are within the manufacturers specification, check condense traps, sumps and the pressure vessel. They will also be able to tell if your boiler is operating efficiently.
An annual boiler service should take up to one hour, and you will be issued with a service certificate before our engineer leaves. You should keep this certificate somewhere safe.
Can Clarity Heating service any type of boiler?

Do I have to legally have my boiler serviced every year?
If you are a home owner there is no legal requirement to have your boiler serviced every year. However, by not having your boiler serviced periodically you could invalidate the manufacturers warranty and jeopardise building insurance cover.
Don’t forget that while it may not be a legal requirement you may be risking your safety, and others, wasting money through inefficient heating costs and increasing the chances your boiler may let you down when you need it the most.
There is a legal requirement and responsibility for landlords to ensure boilers in their rental properties are serviced every year. If you are a landlord or tenant and wish to find out more visit our Landlords Gas Safety Certificates page.
If you run a business you also have a responsibility to make sure your premises provide your staff with a safe environment to work in. We believe making sure your boiler is running efficiently and safely is very important too, so don’t forget to arrange an annual service.
How much does an annual boiler service cost?
