Guide to keeping your heating bills low

Heating thermostat

When we’re in a prolonged cold snap, it means we have the heating turned up high and running 24/7. Now we have to face the heating bills.

So what can you do to keep heating costs down? At Clarity Heating we dismiss the myth that keeping the heating on low all day is cheaper.

You’ll save energy – and money – if you only have the heating on when you need it. So investing in a timer will definitely save you money.

Thermostatic radiator valves can also help – you can have the heating higher in your living room, but keep it lower in the rooms you use least. And if you keep the living room doors closed – that will keep the heat circulating in that room.

At Clarity Heating, we’d advise you to get your boiler serviced annually. Our engineers are happy to come out to service and repair gas, LPG and oil boilers in Ely, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of north Essex.

If your boiler is over 10 years old, we’d strongly recommend getting a new boiler. It will be much more efficient, and probably not as expensive as you’d think. Don’t wait until your old boiler breaks down!

Our Clarity Heating engineers also recommend getting your radiators power flushed.

And, finally, don’t be afraid to switch tariffs to get the best deal going.
