Why service my boiler, it’s working fine?

We’re often asked “Why service my boiler?” Most of us take our central heating system and hot water supply for granted.

It’s unlikely that we think about our hard-working boiler, slaving away in the cupboard helping to keep us warm and clean.

Why does my boiler need a service?

There are three good reasons why an annual boiler check-up is such a worthwhile investment:

• It could save your life – if your boiler is faulty it could leak carbon monoxide gas into your home. Every year up to 50 people in the UK die from carbon monoxide poisoning and many thousands more fall sick. Low levels of the gas can cause long-term health damage.
• A service could cut your fuel bills – it will ensure your boiler is working to the highest level of efficiency, and burning up less fuel.
• Boiler care will keep you warm – it’s one of the most miserable experiences you can have when you wake up on a cold and frosty morning and find your house cold and frosty, because your heating isn’t working. Neglect can lead to boiler breakdown. A service will ensure faults can be avoided or fixed.
